A chill book club for ambitious people who want to read interesting books and have better conversations.
We read what we want, show up, and talk about ideas with people who are also building things.
We pick a book together, give ourselves a few weeks, then meet up and talk about it. When the weather’s good that’s a picnic in Sheep Meadow. When it isn’t, it’s somebody’s apartment or a coffee shop.
The book is really just an excuse to get smart people in one place and see where the conversation goes. It usually goes somewhere good.
Read the whole thing, half of it, listen to the audiobook, get the Claude summary and come anyway. Nobody’s checking.
Members pitch the books. Business, philosophy, fiction, that weird one your friend won’t stop talking about. If enough people are in, it’s the next pick.
Not every book is for everyone. Sit one out, jump back in for the next one.
“I’m reading in Washington Square this Saturday if anyone wants to join” is a perfectly good book club event.
What we’ve read so far. Dungeon Crawler Carl, Never Split the Difference, The Alchemist, Contagious, Parable of the Sower, Bowling Alone.
A sci-fi dungeon crawl, a hostage negotiator, a shepherd looking for treasure, and a sociologist explaining why nobody joins clubs anymore. That’s the range. Got a book that belongs on this list? Pitch it in the chat.
Curious, ambitious people who like ideas and like talking about them. If you’ve ever finished a book and wished you had someone to argue about it with, this is that.
Apply to join the Social Club and we’ll add you to the Book Club thread. Next pick and meetup go out there and on Luma.
A casual book club in New York City for ambitious people, mostly founders, creators, and professionals, who like reading and talking about ideas. We pick one book at a time and meet up to discuss it, usually in Central Park.
Simple. Members pitch books in the group chat and we vote on the next one. You get about six weeks to read it. Then we meet up once, usually a Saturday afternoon picnic, and talk about it for a couple hours. Someone kicks things off with a few questions and it goes wherever the group takes it. Between meetups there are spontaneous reading hangs in the chat.
Sheep Meadow in Central Park when the weather’s good. A coffee shop or a member’s apartment in Manhattan when it isn’t. The spot goes out on Luma and in the group chat.
Roughly every six weeks, one book per meetup.
Whatever the group votes for. We’ve done sci-fi (Dungeon Crawler Carl, Parable of the Sower), business and negotiation (Never Split the Difference, Contagious), fiction (The Alchemist), and sociology (Bowling Alone). Members pitch books and we pick together.
No. Read all of it, half of it, listen to the audiobook, or just come for the conversation. Nobody checks.
No. Bring your own book and a snack for the picnic.
Apply to join the Satori Social Club and we’ll add you to the Book Club thread. Then RSVP to the next meetup on Luma.
Not really. A lot of members build businesses, so business books come up, but we read across the board. The point is good conversation, not professional development.
